Since the invention of the telephone, people have been able to communicate across vast distances. Today, it doesn’t matter if someone is halfway around the world—connecting with them is easier than ever, just a few clicks away.
However, let’s be honest: speaking with someone over the phone will never match the experience of talking face-to-face. Communication is more than just words; it includes facial expressions and body language.
This story perfectly illustrates that point, and it’s sure to bring a smile to your face.
“Hello?”
“Hi, sweetheart. It’s Daddy. Is Mommy near the phone?”
“No, Daddy. She’s upstairs in the bedroom with Uncle Paul.”
After a brief pause, Daddy replies, “But honey, you don’t have an Uncle Paul.”
“Oh, but I do! He’s upstairs with Mommy right now.”
Another pause. “Okay, sweetheart, here’s what I need you to do. Put the phone down, go upstairs, knock on the bedroom door, and tell Mommy that Daddy’s car just pulled into the driveway.”
“Okay, Daddy. Just a moment.”
A few minutes later, the little girl comes back to the phone. “I did it, Daddy.”
“And what happened, sweetie?” Daddy asked.
“Well, Mommy got really scared, jumped out of bed without any clothes on, and started running around screaming. She tripped over the rug, hit her head on the dresser, and now she’s not moving at all!”
“Oh my God! What about your Uncle Paul?”
“He was scared too and jumped out of bed without any clothes on. He ran to the back, jumped out of the window, and into the swimming pool. But I guess he didn’t realize you drained the water last week to clean it. He hit the bottom of the pool, and I think he’s dead.”
***Long Pause***
Then Daddy asks, “Swimming pool? … Is this 486-5731?”
“Feel free to share this joke with your family and friends on Facebook!”
