I pushed my spouse out of bed to stop what I believed was snoring

Lisa Lee, a 25-year-old woman, shared a harrowing account with Metro that left her heartbroken. One night, while sleeping beside her spouse, Lewis Little, she was stirred by what she initially mistook for snoring. Attempting to alleviate the noise, she nudged her 25-year-old husband gently.

“I nudged him out of bed, thinking it was just snoring. But soon I realized something was wrong when I felt the dampness of the sheet. He couldn’t breathe,” Lisa recounted, her voice laden with distress. “I turned on the light and saw his injured face.”

Faced with the grim reality, Lisa swiftly called for an ambulance, though every passing moment felt like an eternity. “It felt like ages until help arrived,” she shared, her anguish palpable.

Upon arrival, medical professionals delivered the devastating news: Lewis had succumbed to his condition hours before, leaving Lisa utterly distraught.

Lisa hesitated to acknowledge what she thought was her husband’s snoring. However, she was soon informed that the sound she perceived was actually the air escaping his body, causing a gentle brush against his vocal cords.

Aware of her husband Lewis’s condition, Lisa understood the gravity of the situation. Lewis suffered from Brugada syndrome, a rare cardiac disorder known for its impact on heart rhythm, often hereditary in nature. Despite the potential fatality associated with the condition, Lewis had been assured of a long and safe life by medical professionals.

One year following his diagnosis, he passed away. We extend our deepest condolences for this loss. May he find solace and peace.
