Prince Philip had a horrible nickname for Meghan Markle

The intricate dynamics within the British royal family have long been a subject of public fascination.

Over the years, this renowned and influential family has experienced its share of trials and tribulations.

When Meghan Markle entered the fold, opinions on Prince Harry’s choice of partner were sharply divided. As a divorcee, Meghan faced skepticism from some quarters about her suitability for the prince. However, despite initial reservations, the royal family welcomed her warmly.

Years into their marriage, revelations have surfaced about a less-than-flattering nickname that the late Prince Philip reportedly had for Meghan.

Comparisons were drawn between Meghan and Wallis Simpson, the controversial spouse of former King Edward VIII. Both Meghan and Simpson share American roots and were divorced prior to marrying into the royal family.

According to sources, Prince Philip harbored negative sentiments towards Meghan, a perspective that remained undisclosed until insights from an insider were published in a book.

Wallis Simpson, an American divorcee, rose to become the Duchess of Windsor, sparking one of the most controversial chapters in modern royal history. In December 1936, King Edward VIII made the unprecedented decision to abdicate the throne, just a year into his reign, in order to marry her.

During that era, royal protocol strictly forbade members of the royal family from marrying divorcees, a regulation that endured until 2002, shortly before the marriage of Prince Charles and Camilla.

Following their marriage, King Edward and Wallis Simpson were effectively exiled from Britain, barred from returning without the approval of his brother, the newly crowned King George VI. This precaution aimed to prevent potential public unrest, as detailed by Vogue.

The couple’s years of exile were marred by numerous scandals, including their documented visit to Nazi Germany and their infamous Nazi salute upon meeting Adolf Hitler.

In a recent conversation on GB News, Ingrid Seward, renowned for her insights into royal affairs, shared intriguing reflections on Prince Philip’s perceptions. According to her, Prince Philip held a nuanced perspective on Meghan Markle, drawing parallels between her and Wallis Simpson. Seward revealed that Prince Philip, known for his astute judgment of character, found several resemblances between the two women. She emphasized his inclination to discern the positive traits in individuals, suggesting that his assessment wasn’t solely critical.

The parallels between Meghan and Harry and Edward and Ms. Simpson were unmistakable to him, leading him to affectionately dub her the Duchess of Windsor, though only behind her back as “DOW,” she explained. In her book ‘My Mother and I,’ Seward elaborated that the Duke of Edinburgh harbored reservations about the former Suits actress and her potential influence on the royal family.

The Sussexes made the decision to step away from their royal responsibilities and relocate from Britain to sunny California, seeking a life away from the constant scrutiny of the media.

Despite their initial intention to lead a more private life, Harry and Meghan have since engaged in various public appearances and projects. This includes numerous interviews, participation in a documentary, and Harry’s publication of a revealing book titled “Spare,” shedding light on the inner workings of the royal family.

According to reports from the Daily Express, Harry is set to return to the UK for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, which will feature a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 8. However, Meghan will not be accompanying him on this trip. Citing concerns for her safety and a desire to avoid stirring controversy, she has chosen to remain in the US.
